overview
Carrito-X is a rideable toy vehicle for children designed from an upcycled paint bucket, inspired by Guerrilla Urban Design principles. The project explores how everyday objects can be recontextualized into playful retail experiences, blending functionality and storytelling.

process
The project began with a market study and technical research on children's ride-on products. Through iterative sketching and low-fidelity modeling, the team explored diverse forms and materials. The final direction was chosen based on feasibility, structure, and familiarity in Mexican households.

Using co-design techniques, the team evaluated multiple concepts using mockups and form studies to test ergonomics and visual appeal. The core structure was built to integrate and support a standard-sized paint bucket, embracing its natural geometry and stability.

prototyping
Alpha and 1:1 scale prototypes were developed to validate structure, weight distribution, and user interaction. Functional tests allowed us to refine finishes, component integration, and user safety.
This project strengthened my ability to translate abstract concepts into tangible products, while considering retail feasibility, cultural context, and user engagement. Carrito-X is a playful, functional and sustainable product that reimagines how retail items can double as immersive experiences.
